In this,
her debut film, Shindo addresses the issues of sexual
identity and lesbianism, while exploring the thin
line between friendship and love. Set against the
backdrop of modern day Tokyo, the film depicts credible
young women caught up in the psychological difficulties
caused by their sexuality.
24-year-old
Kaze Shindo graduated from the Japan Academy of Moving
Images- a school which was founded by one of Japan’s
greatest filmmakers, Shohei Imamura.
After graduation, Shindo worked as Assistant Director
on “Nabbie’s Love”, well known to
Australian audiences, and Kaneto Shindo’s “By
Player”.
Shindo’s debut feature film “Love/Juice”,
received 3 Best New Director Awards, including Best
New Director at the Berlin International Film Festival
2001. |
